Develop an Action Plan

What is a Stategic 'Action Plan' ?

A strategic 'action plan' is a vital and important business tool needed to help you achieve results and growth within a designated time frame, and with maximum results. With an action plan, you stand a much better chance to stay focused on the big picture, whilst concentrating on immediate priorities of high importance.

Without an action plan, decisions tend to be ad-hoc and reactive, which may cause productivity issues, loss of opportunity and growth, financial strain, a loss of direction and vision, an impact on confidence and motivation, and lots of stress ! 

An action plan differs to a 'business plan'.  An action plan is a dynamic tool which can change on a day to day basis and should only be 3-4 pages in length. A business plan is a very detailed outline of the business opportunity / model, and supported with financial projections, normally 20-40 pages in length. An action plan is completely reviewed and updated generally every 3 months, as compared to a business plan perhaps updated every year.

Whilst an action plan is a detailed document, it is laid out in a simplified, logical manner, which can be (and should be) used on a regular, if not daily basis.

Consider an action plan like a 'task list'. However, this list is focused on achieving business development rather than operational / routinal short term objectives.   

A well formed action plan should be structured to take into account all divisions of the business, including finances, marketing, sales, IT, legal, operations, R & D, etc.

An action plan will list short term goals (ie. generally those within a timeframe of 3, 6 or 12 months), but aimed at achieving mid to long term goals (ie. goals within a 3-5 year timeframe). 

This document is a critical business tool that will help you achieve results with maximum resourcefullness !

Program Structure:

A Strategic Action Plan will be developed for your business by your coach, and delivered to you via email within a 4-5 week timeframe upon commencement of the program.  All communication with your coach will be carried out over the phone^, skype, and/or email.

The program will be structured over 2 consecutive stages:

  • Stage 1: during this 2 week phase, you will have time to independantly assess your current business operation.  You will be provided a 'Preliminary Assessment Worksheet' by your coach, to help you carefully take note of your thoughts in a structured and logical manner.  

Your notes will include the current status of your business operation; the issues at hand; the opportunities you envisage over the short term period; your personal goals and aspirations; etc. 

  • Stage 2: during this 2-3 week phase, your coach will have the time to develop a detailed action plan for your business, using the notes that you provided to him during stage 1.

At the completion of this second phase, your coach will present his recommedations to you (via phone^ or skype) using the action plan that was developed. This action plan will be sent to you via email in a word document.

This will include an in-depth examination and summary of your current business position, together with a supporting strategy across all business platforms of your business. The report will essentially outline the key objectives for your business operation, for a specific period of 6-12 months.

Completion of Program:

After receiving the action plan from your coach, you will then have a choice to perform the tasks outlined in the document over a period of 6-12 months, completely on your behalf.  

Alternatively, you can choose to be guided by your coach, by liaising with him through a series of ongoing sessions (via phone or skype).  Available options include - the "Monthly Motivational Mentoring" program; the "30-minute Quick Coaching" session; and / or the "Business Accelerator" programs.

Essentially, these programs will provide you with the necessary guidance and motivation, consultation, and coaching needed to help accelerate your business development, and achieve the desired goals outlined in your action plan within the designated timeframe.

Important Requirements:

You must either have access to a phone land-line (excluding 1300 and 1800 numbers), or have correctly set-up Skype video/audio conferencing.

If you prefer to meet with your Coach face to face instead of via Skype or phone, this can be arranged as well.  Please note that additional costs will apply.* 

* Additional travel costs will apply for sessions held outside of Melbourne CBD.  Face to face sessions will be charged at the 'face to face' consultation rate.
