The Art of 'Thinking BIG'

Published on 27/08/2013

The art of 'thinking BIG’ has no set rule.  It’s really about what makes you tick, and what you desire and want the most from your life pursuits or business venture.  At the end of the day, if you’re going to get out of bed, you might as well do something that you love and enjoy !

Essentially, success is all about having the right attitude and mindset, and always having a dream.

Let's now learn from other succesfull people, about what the art of 'thinking big' actually entails........

-I like thinking big. If you're going to be thinking anything, you might as well think big”(Donald Trump)

-“Look at things not as they are, but as they can be. Visualization adds value to everything. A big thinker always visualizes what can be done in the future. He isn't stuck with the present” (David Schwartz)

-“The first step to becoming is to will it” (Mother Teresa)

-"Charge your future! As you recreate this positive force in your life, take big, massive leapsinto your future. Be imaginative, bold and brave! The results may surprise you.” (Jim Allen)

-“Everyone has to learn to think differently, bigger, to open to possibilities.” (Oprah Winfrey)

-“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” (Walt Disney)

So, what do these quotes or people actually have in common ?

Perhaps these individuals believed in themselves from the start; they were able to see the big picture, and where they wanted to be in the long term future.  For them, the art of thinking big may have been a combination of making money; helping others through philanthropy; being recognised in the public eye or through the media for their efforts or achievements; and so forth.

The art of 'thinking big’ has no set rule.  It’s really about what makes you tick, and what you desire and want the most from your life pursuits or business venture.  At the end of the day, if you’re going to get out of bed, you might as well do something that you love and enjoy !

I was once very inspired to read the story of Mc Donald’s and the chief pioneering founder – Ray Croc ('Mc Donald’s - Behind The Arches', John F. Love).

It was essentially a story of his humble beginnings in business, and entrepreneurial journey to success ;  his willingness to put everything on the line to make it work; his ambition to pioneer and transform the restaurant / food sector into something completely new and futuristic.  Today, we simply call this the ‘fast food industry’.

In fact, one of Ray Croc’s best quotes which describes his philosophy to life and business is: “I believe in God, family, and Mc Donald’s; and in the office the order is reversed.”

Ray Croc’s story has had a tremendous impact on my desire for success and the ability to think big, from a very young age. In fact, one of Ray’s early goals was to achieve significant sales growth from the sale of his hamburgers.  He achieved the unthinkable, defied the sceptics, and demonstrated to the public that anything was possible if you simply have a dream

After having read this book nearly two decades ago, I am still inspired by his story and what Ray was able to achieve.  His strong principles and achievements in life and in business, continue to energise me and help support my views to the art of 'thinking big’, and the ability to help others through my coaching practice.

Essentially, success is all about having the right attitude and mindset, and always having a dream.
